Meet Your Curator

Hi! I'm Therese

and Closet Kitty is a passion project born from my lifelong love of art, independent businesses, sustainability—and yes, cats!

I chose the name because I’ve always admired a cat's innate curiosity and hunting prowess. Those are the exact traits required to scout out the unique, hidden treasures that end up in my shop

My journey started

with a Bachelor’s degree in Art History with a focus on Gallery and Museum Studies. From there, I spent years immersed in the creative world—working in galleries, independent bookstores, assisting local artists, and starting an art career of my own. I learned early on how to look at an object and see the story, craftsmanship, and soul behind it.

Life has a way of surprising you

and no one was more surprised than me when a side hustle doing the books for small businesses led to a full-time job in accounting for a recycling company. There I honed my commitment to sustainability, circular economies, and keeping wonderful, perfectly functional items out of landfills.

Introducing Closet Kitty,

my way of blending all my loves and interests. I use my curator’s eye to pounce on exceptional, pre-loved pieces, and my business experience to run a sustainable shop that puts the customer and the planet first.

Thanks for stopping by and supporting a small, eco-conscious business! It's the purr-fect way to shop.

Core Business Values

Reduce

Plastics shouldn’t outlive our wardrobes. We intentionally package and ship your items using fully compostable and biodegradable materials. It’s our way of ensuring that once your package arrives, the packaging can safely return to the earth without harming wildlife or polluting our oceans.

Reuse

Every year, millions of tons of textiles are discarded. We counter the waste of fast fashion by curating a collection of vintage and contemporary pre-loved apparel. By choosing to reuse, we extend the lifespan of incredible garments and keep them where they belong—in closets, not landfills.

Recycle

Our commitment to the Earth doesn't stop at the product. We utilize recycled packing materials for all our shipments, reducing deforestation and saving the energy required to manufacture new materials from scratch. We also adhere to strict recycling guidelines to keep our office footprint light.

Respect

Sustainability isn't a marketing buzzword for us; it’s our operational blueprint. From protecting the environment to prioritizing fair labor practices, human and planetary well-being guide every single business decision we make.
